Halloween is coming! To get in the spirit (excuse the pun) I wanted to make something spooky but not too scary so I came up with these adorable little ghosts and made them into a balloon tail.
Here’s how I did it…
You will need...
Polystyrene eggs in a variety of sizes. I used these
A crepe paper streamer roll in white. I used this
Self adhesive googly eyes I used some like these
Double sided tape
Clear fishing line
A big round balloon. I used one of these
Using your sharp scissors cut strips into the crepe streamer. Make sure you don’t cut all the way through so you create a fringe.
TOP TIP: Herb scissors are perfect for this as you can cut many strips at once!
Attach double sided tape around the widest part of the egg.
Remove the backing from the double sided tape and attach the crepe fringe all the way around the egg.
Add another layer of tape just a little bit higher than the first row and stick another strip of crepe paper fringe to it. Repeat adding tape and crepe fringe layers until the egg is covered.
Choose a couple of googly eyes and stick them on top of the fringe.
Now we need to add a ring to hang the ghost from. For this little ghost, I used a brass screw eye and simply twisted it into the top of the ghost. You could also make a loop of florist wire or use an eye pin, then make hole in the top and push the wire in and secure with a dot of glue using a glue gun.
There you have it. A cute little ghost.
Now you just need to make some friends for him using different sized eggs and tie together using fishing line and tie to the base of a balloon. The bigger the balloon the more ghosts you can attach.
You can make them as big or as small as you like and they would make a perfect garland as well. However you use them, they will make a perfect addition to a child-friendly Halloween party.
